The Great Bar-B-Que Debate

One of the most important questions in life, of course, is, "What is the best barbecue?" Now, I am by no means an expert but I do feel that I have sampled enough to voice an opinion. I bring this up because one of the teachers I work with, Latisha, and I got into this discussion. She argued that Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que is better than Montgomery Inn. I told that was utter nonsense (and she lost credibility anyway by insisting that Goldstar is better than Skyline), but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and decided to put her claim to the test. So, Dacian and I journeyed north to eat at the Famous Dave's in Florence, KY.
To get straight to the point: the ribs were dry, burnt, and the barbecue flavor itself wasn't all that great. In short, Montgomery Inn clearly still holds the title of best barbecue in my mind. Now, hopefully this quest will continue on to other parts. I hear Memphis, St. Louis, and the entire state of Mississippi has a thing or two to say about barbecue, I hope to get there someday and find out.
Also, it should be noted, that of all the store bought brands, Sweet Baby Ray's is the king of the sauce.

texas roadhouse bar-b-que ribs are pretty good. I have wanted to make a BBQ roadtrip for some time now but ohh the heartburn! I really want to go to Kansas City to eat at the KC Masterpiece Restaraunt. We should plan a trip.

We seriously need to get you Keatons to Western KY. The only thing that beats the home-owned BBQ restaurants in Owensboro is the homemade BBQ made by folks around the area. Last time I went home, my new uncle Chris made some mean ribs. He also bought some pulled pork from one of his coworkers, and it was probably the best I've ever tasted.

I realize I'm a little late to the debate but I have to seriously disagree. As a life-long resident of Owensboro (which is the 3rd largest city in KY) we have by far the best BBQ. I mean, come on, we have the INTERNATIONAL BBQ Festival!!

I've also just returned from Kansas City, which also claims the title of Best BBQ, and while quite good it still does not compare to Owensboro!!! Travis, if you go to Kansas City skip KC Masterpiece and eat at Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbeque (http://www.jackstackbbq.com/). It was the best in KC (but still pales in comparison to Owensboro...which still is the 3rd largest city in KY)
