Growing up I could never really tell if my dad considered the lawn his burden or his pride. Either way, it was clear that it was a big deal and that the lawn needed to be cared for in the proper way and with the proper equipment. So, a few weeks ago, when my parents came down for a visit, my dad had a nice little surprise for this new home owner. With my garage door open, and with a coy little smile across his face, my dad proceeded to unload a number of new lawn care tools into my garage. A new shovel, work gloves, a post hole digger (in case I want to plant a tree), a bag of fertalizer and a broadcaster (I think that is what it is called) to get rid of the weeds, and a 100' power cord to go with my new electric weed eater. Now, I'm not quite sure of it, but I think there was a small chuckle that escaped his mouth as he put the last item down. I could tell there was something very gratifying for him about all this. Thanks dad.
