So, I had one of my first "Oh no... I lost my kid" moments today. I went to put Alex down for this afternoon nap and realized I needed to first put a sheet on his mattress. I had removed it earlier to wash it and forgot to put one back on. I put Alex down on the floor next to his crib and proceeded to grab a sheet out of his blanket basket. Alex immediately bolted out the door. I wasn't alarmed because since becomming mobile, this has become a common game for us to play. I put the sheet on, then went out to look for him. Well, he was not in any of his usual spots. He wasn't at the book shelf playing with our Star Trek DVDs. He wasn't in Mommy's closet trying to get Daddy's paint brushes. He wasn't in the bathroom pulling out the wash clothes. He wasn't by Mommy's dresser playing with the handles on the drawers. I went around the other side of the bed expecting to find him playing with Daddy's new socks that haven't made it into the drawer yet. But no Alex.
At this point, I started to get alarmed. I left the bedroom and started to make my way to the living room. I happened to glance out through the mudroom into the garage where all the doors were open from the "spring cleaning" job my neice and I were doing to the house. And that's when I saw it. The unbelievable revelation of where my almost 11 month old little boy was. I saw a pair of legs crawling around the corner OUTSIDE INTO THE YARD!!!!
Somehow, in the time it took Mommy to get the sheet on the mattress, Alex had crawled out of hit room, through the mud room, down the 2 VERY STEEP stairs leading down to the garage floor, through the garage and out the garage door into the yard and was booking it out into the vast new world. I could hear William Wallace in all his courage screaming "FREEDOM!!!!!!!" as he went.
In utter disbelieve, I ran after him and carried him back into the house. Curious to see how he had managed this little adventure out into the wild kingdom known as our front yard, I put him as the top of the steps just to see what he would do. Sure enough, the boy has learned how to get down on his belly and scoot down the stairs!!!!
I was mixed with pride and TERROR!!! He's not even 11 months old. What will adolescence be like when he has already learned how to escape the house??

Welcome to my world Mama! Isaac can make it out to the exit on the other end of the church in about 45 seconds. Unfortunately, it usually takes me about three minutes to get there.
I think that two of the three Jones kids were able to make it across Appian Way after escaping from the church.
You might ask Michelle about her days chasing kids.
