The Annual Standiford/Scott Fireworks Display... Un-Freakin-Real
The majority of the people who read this blog were at the event so they know first hand what it is like. For those who were not among the fortunate, uhm... 300 or so, people who came to this simple backyard fireworks show... let's just say that Roman Candles, Bottle Rockets, M-80s, and probably dynomite, are laughed at as mere child's play. Somehow, over the years a few neighbors and friends have gathered together for a simple time of family fireworks and it has exploded into something that now not only is one of the very few firework shows in Lexington to have a city licence for the types of fireworks they use, but they also have gained corporate sponsorship. Not to mention a live performance by an up and coming Nashville musician. There are no words to describe it so watch the video Dacian took. And, to top things off, as if the show weren't enough, I got to be one of the people who lit the fireworks; so that means I was standing right under all that you see in the video and the show lasted about 45 minutes. Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime experience!Thank you to Tim Scott for the invitiation and allowing me to participate. I can't wait until next year!
Michell, Dacian Sarah & Noah enjoying the live music before the big event!
Aren't they so cute in their fireworks gear? They got a free hat and t-shirt for risking their lives lighting the fuses. What a pay off.
Travis and Alyce pose for a candid shot. Alyce was having fun rolling around in the grass, but by the time I went to take the photo she quit.
Abby playing with the racing flags. Do we have a NASCAR fan on our hands?
